Institutional Diversity
Campus Diversity Agenda helps colleges and universities achieve inclusive excellence through diversity strategic action planning and support.
We know, and the social science literature supports, that effective institutional strategy requires applicable diversity strategy, and the most effective institutions are those that leverage campus diversity as an asset. We support our Clients in understanding and optimizing their institutions’ diversity through a process of inquiry and strategic action.
We advance a critical approach to campus diversity in which diversity contributes to the building of internal capacity and external standing. Our approach to diversity operates on two levels of strategy. The first is an inward focus on excellence through equality and inclusion. The second is an outward focus on gaining competitive advantage in the marketplace
HBCU Diversity Initiative
We help HBCUs to optimize their diversity profiles as strategic assets through Design and Assessment of Campus Diversity Agendas—including identification of key issues and leverage points in LGBT student support and institutional policies and practices as part of a holistic institutional diversity strategy
Whereas nearly all majority institutions long ago developed programming and institutional support systems to ensure that same-gender-loving persons are able to live authentically, only one HBCU – Bowie State University – has created a center or dedicated full-time administrative staff to LGBT affairs. And few HBCUs have codified anti-discrimination policies related to sexual orientation.
Campus Diversity Agenda’s HBCU Initiative is to help these institutions to value and validate sexual orientation and gender identity diversity, and turn what are now enormous losses in terms of human capital into opportunities for increased excellence, both for HBCUs, for black LGBT persons, and for society.
LGBT Diversity and Inclusion
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) diversity and inclusion is an essential part of a holistic approach to institutional diversity. Yet, LGBT diversity planning is often overlooked to the detriment of institutions that seek new avenues for distinction.
Campus Diversity Agenda recognizes that given our national demographic changes, LGBT diversity must be an increasing priority for American colleges and universities. We are dedicated to helping academic institutions to develop and implement general and LGBT-specific diversity and inclusion strategic action plans.
We help our Clients to value LGBT diversity and inclusion as a strategic asset to help improve institutional outcomes.
